We may be a new name to some, but Tana and Rich of TR
Ranch have over 100 years of combined equine experience.
TR Ranch, located in the beautiful Willamette Valley of
Oregon, is dedicated to the breeding of the world's
finest appaloosa halter horses.....and we invite you to
be a part of our journey in this “pursuit of perfection”
Rich's love affair with the appaloosa breed began during
his college days when he worked his way through school
on the back of a horse. He bought his first appaloosa
horse in 1972, went to his first show in Flagstaff, AZ,
and you might say the rest is “history”. Although he has
owned winners on the race track and in the performance
arena, his passion has always been the breeding and
showing of halter horses.
Tana, on the other hand, was born into the horse world;
one of her grandfathers was a horse logger, and the
other a thoroughbred race trainer. She has been
surrounded with horses her entire life. As a youngster,
when girls were banned from the tracks, she would
disguise herself as a boy to exercise her grandfather's
race horses. Later, that thirst for speed lead her to a
career in barrel racing, and later she became a race
horse owner herself. As the years went by, her interests
evolved to the cutting pen, until Rich introduced her to
the world of the “halter” horse.
Through the years, Rich has been fortunate to be a part
of some of the breed's greatest horses, and home to some
of the most influential sires;
